Les Petits Français


A French full immersion experience that presents the language in an amusing and memorable way. Filled with communicative activities, games and songs for every single content presented, the children leave each class having learnt something new and being able to use it in a realistic way.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Les Petits Français is a year-round program that is organized in different levels according to the age of the students. Classes meet twice a week, for 1-hour each time. The academic year is divided into two terms: the Fall Term and the Winter/Spring Term.  At the end of each term, "Les Petits Français" get :
"Les Petits Francais" Portfolio An Audio-cassette A Performance and Attendance Sheet A Certificate of Completion
This portfolio contains all their works/crafts produced during the term.
  
With all the songs/rhymes learnt during the session, this cassette provides  on-going practice and pure fun at home or in the car.
  


This sheet contains all the information pertaining to the course and your child’s participation.

 
This is given at the end of the Academic year.

CLASS DESCRIPTION/ORGANIZATION
The contents are presented in an amusing way using visuals, videos, songs and crafts using a “total immersion” to the target language.   All the language skills (speaking, listening; and where applicable, reading and writing) are practiced in each unit.
“Les Petits Français” are also introduced to the culture of the Spanish speaking countries through music, dance and food tasting.   Teachers are all native speakers with experience teaching languages to children.

CURRICULUM AND CLASS FORMAT

“Les Petits Français”  curriculum has a content-based format. Each week students are presented with a topic that is exploited to the maximum, with activities, songs, video presentations and lots of reinforcement. Each lesson is of 1-hour duration and organized as follows (sample format):   

ACTIVITY DURATION
Welcome Song, General Greetings and Greetings Song 5 min.
Presentation of the Day’s Topic (pictures/poster/cards/objects)   15 min.  
Physical Practice of Day’s Topic  (song/game/dance/poem/video)   15 min.  
Hands-on Practice of Day’s Topic            (craft/ project)   15 min.  
Revision of day’s topic and Good Bye Song    5 min.  

At the end of every week, students take home a sheet which contains a summary of the contents learnt during the two classes as well as practical ideas on how to practice these contents at home.
